DatacenterDynamics relocates to
new venue at London’s Old Billingsgate
DatacenterDynamics has announced its Europe event is to take place on 1st-2nd
November in London’s Old Billingsgate Market. Themed ‘Zettastructure’, this year’s
conference programme will address the stresses and challenges upon data centre
management created by the disaggregation of infrastructure as we enter the zettabyte era.
George Rockett, CEO, DatacenterDynamics, said, ‘In relocating this year’s event
to the heart of London City, we want to reconnect with an established reputation for
thought leadership and knowledge sharing. As a leading colocation destination, London
is not only a global leader for data centre engineering and operational know-how, it is
also one of the first cities to feel the impact of Zettabyte requirements. Its data centre
community therefore have first-hand experiences to share and discuss.’
Situated on the bank of the River Thames at London Bridge, Old Billingsgate
creates the opportunity for the event activities to continue throughout the two days of
the conference. The venue will play host to both the conference halls and a 40,000ft2
expo, including the most innovative technology solutions providers in the digital
infrastructure market.
‘Datacenterdynamics has always put content and networking first and second. In
these respects, the event has never been well suited to a purely exposition venue. Old
Billingsgate is unique in that it provides a convenient gathering point for one of the most
important data centre communities, set right in the heart of one of the world’s most
desirable cities. This gives both our delegates and sponsors a huge range of options in
terms of the way they use the event which simply aren’t available at an out-of-town
location,’ continued Rockett.
DatacenterDynamics Europe 2016’s new look conference programme includes
morning plenaries followed by pre-lunch seminars, whilst the afternoons are given over
to an entirely new format for ‘big discussions’ of issues and technology developments
affecting the industry.
NG Bailey
inundated with
apprenticeship
applications
NG Bailey has seen an unprecedented surge in applications for its
2016 apprenticeship intake.
It received 4,000 applications in the first four weeks – double
the rate seen in 2015, and by the end of the recruitment period the
highest number of applications in NG Bailey’s history.
The company, which unveiled the record breaking response at
the start of National Apprenticeship Week, said the ‘earn and learn’
route was now more popular than ever as an alternative to further
academic study.
Not only that, but the quality of applications it has received,
shows there has been a significant shift in the way apprenticeships
are perceived as a career route.
Frank Clayton, head of group learning and development at
NG Bailey, said, ‘We have been overwhelmed this year, not only
by the number of applications received but also by the quality. It’s
significantly improved on previous years.
‘The answers being provided on application forms are much more
detailed and thorough, proving this is a considered career choice.
‘It’s obvious that people have researched their career path and
are applying because of a desire to undertake an apprenticeship,
rather than because of a lack of other options.’
The ECA backs
CNCI certification
The Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) is fully supporting
CNet Training’s Certified Network Cable Installer (CNCI) program,
the new certification for network cable installers.
CNet Training committed over £2m and worked with
leading network infrastructure organisations across the UK to
develop the CNCI certification. It has since been fully embraced
and approved by major industry organisations (installers,
manufacturers and consultants), w
