We think therefore our lives depend on what we know and how we act , for we are the content of our consciousness and the word constructs . That bedevils us , so we seek exegesis trying to extract text from words to “ bring out ” a meaning philosophically in the process-action of living , but whose meaning is correct ? And so we have interpretation of all text-words .
Hermeneutics wanted to challenge the hermetic world of exegesis to understand understanding , therefore meaning and interpretation , needing of course ever more interpretations . Is the meaning that I mean the original meaning that I thought was the original meaning that I meant ? See , I am become a destroyer of words !
It is of interest to see that it was the University of Edinburgh that founded the School of Epistemics in 1969 , “ In the mid-1980s , the School of Epistemics was renamed as The Centre for Cognitive Science ( CCS ). In 1998 , CCS was incorporated into the University of Edinburgh ' s School of informatics . 21 ” Ethics and morals rightly dog these developments .“ The artificial intelligence ( AI ) and robotics communities face an important ethical decision : whether to support or oppose the development of lethal autonomous weapons systems ( LAWS ). Technologies have reached a point at which the deployment of such systems is ~ practically if not legally ~ feasible within years , not decades . Roosevelt ’ s response was to inform General Edwin M . Watson his military adviser that “ this requires action .”
Oppenheimer ’ s “ I am become death destroyer [ shatterer ] of worlds ,” 24 which he attributed mistakenly to Vishnu , is from The Bhagavad Gita where Krishna the Divine Charioteer and 8 th Avatar is urging Prince Arjuna to be duteous and fight the “ righteous war ” between the Pandavas and Kauravas establishing Dharma . 25 Were the dropping of Little Man and Fat Boy righteous ? Japan had already been firebombed into submission . Oppenheimer stands historically shoulder to shoulder with the actions of Truman : power and the unilateralism of a suspicion based American Exceptionalism and post World War II America ’ s push for “ full-spectrum dominance .”
There is no scientific , political or military theory with a ‘ value free view of reality ’. Oppenheimer might have had a philo-
