68 69 A Dalecarlian horse or Dala horse (Swedish: Dalahäst) is a traditional carved and painted wooden horse statuette originating in the Swedish Province Dalarna. The Swedish coat of arms consisting of three crowns and a star adorns the top of Stockholm’s city hall. The “Dancer” is a statue of a naked women and one of Stockholm’s landmarks. Knäckebröd is a flat and dry type of bread or cracker, containing mostly rye flour. The elk is the national animal of Sweden. The gilded crown of Sweden is also seen on Skeppsholmsbron, a bridge between Skepsholmen and Blasieholmen. The Vikings came from three countries of Scandinavia: Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The name ‘Viking’ comes from a language called ‘Old Norse’ and means ‘a pirate raid’.
