The State of Colorado recentely awarded 4 school districts and one charter school with the English Langauge Proficiency Act (ELPA) Excellence Award.

In 2014 Colorado legislators created the ELPA Excellence Award program, to acknowledge and award districts and charter schools who demonstrate

Top 25% in growth percentiles on the English Language Proficiency Assessment

Top 25% in growth percentiles on Colorado’s academic content assessment on reading and writing/English language arts, and math for ELs in program; and

Top 25% in percentages of proficient and advanced on the Colorado content assessment on reading and writing/English language arts and math (and when available science and social studies) for ELs that have transitioned out of an ELD Program

These are not easy targets to attain and only four school districts and one charter is one of received the ELPA Excellence award for the 2018-19 school year.
