The app, Naturally Kiawah Pathways: Central Island Tour, can be downloaded to a tablet or smartphone and provides a guide along existing bike paths. 5 6 7 Naturally Kiawah Habitat Recognition Program These emblems are proudly displayed on mailboxes throughout the Island. Their presence indicates the dedication of homeowners to preserving natural habitat in order to provide resting and nesting places for our wildlife. Marsh Sparrow Banding Project Little Bear Island Aaron Given and a number of assistants continued capturing, measuring and banding marsh sparrows as part of a long-term project that began in 2011. The site of Kiawah’s second bird banding station where graduate students, supported through the Conservancy, assist in studying the Island’s fall bird migration. They banded almost 2,800 birds at this site in the 2015 season. WINTER/SPRING 2016 • VOLUME 35 59
