Avian Adventures
We thoroughly enjoyed a Nature Center expedition
lead by a Resort naturalist to one of the lookout
towers. We viewed great egrets, snowy egrets,
blue herons and bald eagles. At a distance, to our
surprise, was a beautiful group of painted buntings
right over our heads.

I took this great horned owl photo at
Beachwalker park in the trees surrounding the
parking lot. He was there well over a month,
but has since disappeared. I was lucky to get
him when I did, staking out a spot several nights
in a row, waiting until dusk for him to show
himself. Nature, and all its glory, is available
every day at Kiawah. What a gift!
