Thank You for Visiting Kiawah Island
“We think of Kiawah as
paradise found.
Let’s make sure it’s not
paradise lost.”
Ralph Edwards from The Legacy of Kiawah
Kiawah Island is a place where wonderful
memories are made. When it comes right down to it, those
memories are built on the natural wonders here. It’s really all
about habitat. This Special Guest Edition of Naturally Kiawah
could not be clearer. If we could ask the red knots, the dolphins, the
piping plovers, the turtles, the bobcats, the frogs and the other creatures
featured within these pages, all would tell us that they are essential members
of the Island ecosystem and that their presence and population densities have
everything to do with how well human beings share and care for their world.
The Kiawah Conservancy is committed to understanding the critical natural
habitat needed to maintain a healthy, balanced and diverse population of native
plants and animals at Kiawah Island. Its support of research, educational forums,
community outreach, land preservation and habitat programs are ways the Kiawah
Conservancy protects the habitat of Kiawah for years to come.
Your experiences of the natural wonders of Kiawah Island are yours forever.
The Kiawah Conservancy welcomes your donations of time and resources as an
investment in the future of this beautiful Island. When you return, the Kiawah
Conservancy will be right here, working to keep this the Island of your memories.
