5 Ways To Bounce Back
from a rut

Ever feel like you’ve hit a slump and just don’t feel the same passion for your
interests or hobbies? I personally have been sick for 3 out of the last 4 weeks, and
eventually threw my hands in the air and said “I’m just giving in until it passes”.
Am I still under the weather? Yup! (I’m seriously questioning if I have an immune system at this point). But here are five ways that helped me to get
back on track and can help you too!
Oftentimes when we are feeling stuck, it’s our body and mind letting us know
we need to take a break and relax. Take a day to do minimal activity and
make sure an early bedtime so you get enough sleep is a priority.
Light exercise. When we are sick, it’s essential to allow our bodies to rest
and recover. For me, after two weeks of taking it easy, I needed to do some
light exercise. Low sets, light reps, but keeping the blood pumping felt
great and wasn’t over exerting myself.
Eat healthy and drink water. A healthy body is crucial to keeping
our mind at ease also. Drinking water can help you to feel refreshed and
boost your desire to accomplish your goals. If you want a treat, don’t deprive
yourself. Be mindful not to over indulge, but comfort food doesn’t have to
be an enemy.
Happy Distractions. Take time to read a book or watch a movie. Spending
tim with family or work on a hobby. Take a break from whatever it is that has
you feeling low so when you get back to it, you have a fresh thought
process.
Write a to-do list and don’t be hard on yourself if you don’t get
everything done. I write a to do list every morning and even
if I’m having a bad day, looking at everything I’ve accomplished can still be pretty rewarding. You may even want to
write your to-do’s on the left page and “look what I did!”
on the right for some positive encouragement if you’re a
little ADD like me. :-)
