TRAINING FITNESS THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS Efficient and Effective Ways to Meet your Fitness Goals in the Holiday Season By: Frank Gigante, Natural Pro common excuse used at this point in the year is that we will take a break now, because there is no time for the gym, and we will start back up after the holidays on January 1. The excuse of waiting to the New Year seems to be more a mental lull and cop out that has been widely accepted over the years and promoted through mainstream and popular thinking. But wait – why does it have to be this way? Why is it ok to stop working out so we can shop and eat more during the holidays and then suddenly wake up January 1 ready to start fresh and undo the “lack of work” we spent an entire month or two working on? If this seems like a backwards way of thinking, that is because it is!! We all want to eat delicious foods during the holidays and magihelp in doing that, nor will packing in hours of cardio in January. Consistency is key, and just like moderation is best used at holiday meals, rather than restricting any particular food group, moderation because you may not be able to do what you “usually” do, does not mean you cannot do something and that with a few changes, still hit goals and stay on track. There is no doubt that schedules change, plans come up, and there is more to do during the holiday season which really impacts tines does not have to be an all or nothing commitment. Flexibility is needed in both planning, scheduling, and even in the types of still accomplish all of the demands of the holiday season. This may mean thinking outside of the box. Now is a great time to rewrite not against you, even in the busiest time of the year.
