Servef Center in Novelda was designed with a modern
sense from its building production system to its interior
with the integration of the local Bateig stone a crucial
element to give the building local character in this
modernist context. If carefully cut, the Bateig stone is
truly appropriate to design façades with. In this project,
the Bateig is used as precisely cut large louver like plates
for the lower structure’s façade. The size of the stone
pieces was the maximum size produced in the quarry,
320x80x6cm. Two levels of stone are arranged vertically
on the façade as a skin that acts as a filter towards the
