kullanımı ısı kontrolünü destekliyor. Giden
yolcu salonuna viyadükten bağlanılıyor; açık
otoparktan araçla ve viyadük üzerinde yer alan
iki kuleden erişim sağlanıyor. Viyadükün geniş
kolon aksları iç mekanlara gün ışığı alımını
engellemiyor; kolonlardan arındırılmış geniş
bir açıklık görüntünün kesintisiz olmasını
sağlıyor. Çatı makaslarını ve çatıyı taşıyan çelik
kolonlar binanın ana strüktürünü oluşturuyor,
dolayısıyla iç mekanda minimum kolon kullanımı
ile kesintisiz ve ferah alanlar elde ediliyor.
Cepheyi taşıyan sistemin çatıyı taşıdığı uygulama
ve teknolojinin sağladığı olanaklarla kolon
sayısı minimize ediliyor. Estetik kaygı ile brüt
beton olarak bırakılan taşıyıcı kolonların sık
olmaması ile sağlanan genişlik duygusu, yüksek
ve içeri gün ışığı alan tavan uygulamasıyla
yolcuların en sıkıntılı olduğu arama ve pasaport
kontrol noktalarında dahi yolculuk gerginliğini
hafifletmeyi hedefliyor.

the air side, the use of serigraphic glass allows daylight in a more controlled
manner supporting the general climactic control of the building.
The architecture of the terminal is based on construction in steel and
glass that generates space and light. This experience is initially felt by
passengers in the entrance scheme for the building as they reach the
departure hall using a pedestrian bridge with direct access from the open
car park via two towers. Once inside the wide column shafts allow daylight
to diffuse into interiors where a wide-open space free of columns enables
unobstructed view. Steel columns that carry the roof trusses and the roof
form the main structure of the building minimizing the use of columns in
the interiors providing uninterrupted and spacious concourse zones. Load
bearing columns left as exposed concrete for aesthetic purposes are visually
prominent generating a feeling of solidity within the steel structure. The
sense of visual variety created by the minimal use of columns supported by
the high ceilings and optimized daylight reduces the tension of journeys in
stress inducing areas such as the security search and passport check points.
Local elements, material morphologies
The architects made an effort to connect their modernist architecture to
local features. The unique pattern of the suspended ceiling designed by
Tabanlioglu Architects consists of aluminum rods in the shape of reeds that
refers to the local weaving craft of the region. This lightweight aluminum
texture of the ceiling hides mechanical systems such as ventilation,
electricity, fire sprinklers and lighting while allowing for easy maintenance. A
reference to the sea around Bodrum is achieved through the deep blue colors
