ülkelerinde son zamanlarda geliştirilmeye çalışılan ekokent örneklerinden biri. Master planları Foster+Partners
tarafından geliştirilen Masdar City ya da Perkins&Will’in
Dockside Green Development gibi projelerini de bu
kategori dahilinde ele almak mümkün. Sermayenin
devlet tarafından sağlandığı bu projelerden özellikle
Birleşik Arap Emirlikleri tarafından finanse edilen ve
inşaatı hala devam devam eden Norman Foster tasarımı
Masdar City sıfır karbon salınımı ile yankı uyandırdı.
Dubai’de örneklerini çokça gördüğümüz tekil ikonik bina
trendi yerine sıfırdan marka kent yaratma günümüzün
yeni eğilimlerden biri… Sıfırdan inşa edilen ya da
yenileme projesi olarak hayata geçirilen bu kentler,
ölçek, nitelik ve içerdiği fonksiyonlar açısından farklı
olsa da, bu kentlerin gelecek öngörüleri doğrultusunda
nüfus artışına ve kullanıcı gereksinimlerine cevap verip
veremeyecekleri ya da dönüşebilme yeteneğine sahip
olup olamayacakları henüz bilinmiyor.
Msheireb Downtown Doha projesi, şehrin ticari bölgesini
tekrar canlandırmayı hedefliyor. Ticari ve konaklama
faaliyetlerini bir arada barındıracak proje, LEED sertifikalı
100 adet yeni yapıdan oluşuyor. Dört aşamalı olarak
planlanan projenin 1A, ‘Diwan Amiri Bölgesi’ yenilemesi,
inşaatı başlayan ilk aşama. 1A tarihi yapıları, bir camiyi
ve bölgenin soğutma, trafo merkezleri ve servis birimleri

architectural projects undertaken by a number of leading global architects
in a planned complex in downtown Doha, Qatar which, when completed,
will be the world’s largest collection of LEED certified buildings consisting of
100 LEED certified commercial and residential projects. Diwan Amiri region’s
construction began as the first stage of the projects four stages in 2009.
This 1A phase consists of the renovation of historical buildings, a mosque
and infrastructure such as cooling systems, substations and service units.
The subsequent 1B and 1C stages envisioned for completion in 2015 and 2016
involve the construction of offices, residences, a hotel, a civic architecture
building, a cultural center and a mosque; the second stage will see the
construction of office buildings, apartments, cinemas, a shopping mall and
hotels. The third phase consists of retail, office buildings, apartments, a day
care center and hotels. As the last stage of the planning, the fourth stage
includes the construction of sales, office, hotel and residential buildings.
Designed by globally prominent architecture, planning and consulting offices
such as Adjaye Associates, Gensler and Eric Parry Architects, the project is
predicted to cost approximately 5.5 billion USD when completed.
Located at the periphery of the Msheireb Downtown Doha regeneration site,
