Fildişi ve bej maraş mermerinin doğal ahşabın dokusuyla birlikte
kullanıldığı iç mekanlarda malzeme ve geometri vurgusu öne çıkıyor.
There is an emphasis on materials and geometry in interiors of ivory and
beige Maraş marble coordinated with the textures of natural wood.
yer veriyor. Mimari, Türk konut mimarisinin işlevsel ve
temsili özelliklerini temel alıyor. Üst katlardaki alanlar
bir iç avluya bakacak şekilde düzenlenirken, yapının
çatısı boyunca yer alan geniş saçaklar binayı sert kara
iklimine karşı koruyor. Binanın genel hacmi ve bu
özellikleri geleneksel Türk konut tipolojisinin işlevsel
bir modernizasyonu olarak öncü modernist mimar
Sedad Hakkı Eldem’in ‘Türk Evi’ üzerine çalışmasını
hatırlatıyor.

Despite the fact the building combines state functions
with residential these two distinct activities were
separated from each other as much as possible in the
plan. The design of the building called for official
governmental activities for the ground floor and
residential space for the family on the upper floor with
utilities and infrastructure for both in the basement.
The architecture was based on the functional
and representational features of Turkish domestic
architecture. Spaces on each of the upper floors were
organized facing an inner courtyard while wide eaves
were placed on the roofline of the building to protect
against the harsh desert climate. These features and
the building’s overall volume echo the work on the
“Turkish House” of the important pioneering Turkish
modernist architect Sedad Hakki Eldem as a functional
modernization of the traditional Turkish residential
typology.
Formally the side of the building facing the city with
its formal “representational” façade was designed
to complete the movement of the internal volume
and structural axis. On the external façade the gaps
between the lines of precast concrete elements that
give the building its vertical movement are filled with
