Sanat/Art: Alexander Seton Ignorance is bliss, failing that get a selective memory (2007) Hafıza, oyun ve güvenlik temalarını işleyen ‘Security Blanket’ (Güvenlik Battaniyesi) sergisindeki çalışmaların her biri, üzerinde başka bir minik obje bulunan katlanmış bir yorgan. The piece was displayed in the exhibition ‘Security Blanket’, which draws upon themes of memory, play and safety. The common foundation of the works is the folded duvet recreated in marble. Each duvet is folded differently, the folds carefully rendered, with the color of the marble matching the off-white and grey tones of an aging comforter. The marble itself incorporates the powerful impressions of childhood - not only does it remind the artist of his bedclothes, this particular marble is quarried from the Wombeyan area, close to where Seton spent time as a child. Six More (2011) Avustralya’da savaşta şehit olan askerleri anma günü olan ‘Remembrance Day’ sırasında sergilenen ‘Six More’ (Altı Daha) Queensland inci mermerinden oyulmuş 6 adet katlanmış tören bayrağından oluşuyor. Ortalarından bir halatla bağlanan bu bayraklarıın her biri, MayısAğustos 2011 arasında Afganistan’da hayatlarını kaybeden bir askeri temsil ediyor. ‘Six More’, a sculpture commemorating the lives of fallen soldiers, was made for 2011 Remembrance Day, to be displayed at the Australian War Memorial. The sculpture consists of six highly realistic folded ceremonial flags carved from Queensland pearl marble, each with a halyard tied around its centre, representing six soldiers who lost their lives in Afghanistan between May and August 2011. 22 NATURA • MAYIS - HAZİRAN 2013 / MAY - JUNE 2013
