Folkart Narlıdere Residences were completed in 2009 on a 30,800 m2 side in Izmir’s newly developed Narlıdere neighborhood. The landscape design of the project focuses on integrating landscape with the informal aspects of the architecture by Emre Arolat Architects (EAA). The informal effect of the garden, combined with the rich plant potential of the Aegean produces a distinctive outdoor experience. The signature citrus fruits of the Aegean play an important role in the rhythm of the balconies. The reflecting abilities of the water surfaces visually expand the garden, while serving as a screen for the night landscape. Vertical gardens are the most dominant characteristic of the night landscape, with their rythmical use of rosebay, honoring this common plant of the Mediterranean flora. The familiar grassterrace relationship is reinterpreted as grass surfaces between the terraces and the plant texture, especially on ground level gardens. The lighting brings a brand new effect to the night landscape. Both individual and overall applications in the Narlıdere landscape take their part in this fictional nature. Deniz Aslan says that they had an easy design and production process with EAA in Folkart Narlıdere as they have had in all the projects they work together. The construction company Folkart’s positive attitude and willingness to follow the project through also played a part in the outcome. The basalt stone used in the architecture was also the main stone for landscape design. Muğla’s slate stone was used in different sizes, especially in the intersections with the soil. Soft, oxidized tones of the stone helped blend the landscape to the soil. PROJEDE BAZALT VE MUĞLA KAYRAĞI ANA TAŞ OLARAK KULLANILDI. BASALT AND MUĞLA SLATE WERE THE MAIN STONES USED IN THE PROJECT.
