Projeler/Projects: Lizbon/Lisbon
The use of marble in the Lisbon Stone Block’s is supported by using natural
materials in the ecological and flexible manners. In this sense, this
ingenious use of marble generates a more efficient facade with subjstantively
more value than the GFRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete) façade systems
that are widely used in many contemporary buildings presently. Compared
to GFRC, the marble is an easier material to integrate with other building
materials and systems as it gives opportunities for architects to imbed other
construction details.
The Lisbon Stone Block is a recent project where marble is used at the
urban scale to achieve value for the building, its residents and environs.
The importance of long term thinking merged with efficiency gained from
a technical solution such as the movable facade shows the advantages of a
natural material such as marble can have on daily life and public space.
