Members of the fraternity and sorority life community often describe their initiation as one of the most important and impactful moments of their membership. A close second was that moment when they were presented to their campus community, family and friends as a member. With some groups celebrating over 100 years of brotherhood and sisterhood these groups have evolved along with these two moments. With all evolution and change in general there have been challenges. This presentation explores the evolution of one of those key moments the new member presentation. From death marches, to neophytes, to talent showcases and receptions how new members are formally presented has changed but the goal, the mission, the why, of showcasing the commitment and pride of these new members have not. The who, what, when, where, how can all change but is this truly a distinction without a difference?
