A Sophisticated Solution for Backing Your Trailer Brandmotion’s Trailer Camera System is an innovative towing solution that dramatically improves your ability to back a trailer into the desired spot. Speaking on the company’s recent product release, Brandmotion Founder and President Jeff Varick said, “We’re very excited to introduce the first auto-connect trailer towing camera system for GM, Ford, and Chrysler/ Jeep/Dodge/Ram factory display radios. Trailer cameras aren’t new, but we’ve taken the time and hassle out of connecting a trailer camera to a tow vehicle by offering the first auto-connect integration to factory display radios. Simply connect your trailer with an installed Brandmotion trailer camera to your truck or SUV tow vehicle and the system instantly switches from displaying the factory tailgate camera to the Brandmotion trailer camera.” The new camera system is an excellent solution for powersport, marine, RV, farming, and equestrian trailers. Each system comes with a waterproof, rustproof, vehicle mounted quick-connect cable, and a waterproof, shockproof standalone camera. Brandmotion also offers a unique dual camera system with a monitor display; one camera for backing up and another for watching the contents of your trailer. This is an ideal application for checking on valuable cargo without leaving the vehicle while still seeing behind your trailer (auto-detect is available on factory display integrations only). CURT to Expand Hitch Production, Transition Electrical Manufacturing CURT, the leading manufacturer of USA-made hitches and a complete line of towing products, is expanding its hitch manufacturing capacity in Eau Claire, WI and consolidating Eau Claire and Philippines electrical manufacturing operations into one location. 16 CURT has experienced a significant growth in all categories this past year and to respond to that growth, the company decided to expand its hitch manufacturing capacity and flexibility in Eau Claire, WI by reallocating space previously used to manufacture other products in the line. The company’s wiring harness business is one of the categories where we have seen substantial growth. As it is preparing to launch products with what it believes to be game-changing technologies, this has been one area of focus. It currently manufactures harnesses between a facility in the Philippines and a small portion of a plant in Eau Claire. The company concluded that it wanted to consolidate that production for wiring harnesses into one location in Mexico. That decision will both allow expansion of hitch production in Eau Claire and bring manufacturing of the wiring business under one, consolidated operation closer to its market. CURT also selected a location that will offer plenty of capacity to absorb the growth for its electrical business. This represents a significant investment for CURT Group and gives an opportunity to increase hitch manufacturing capacity in the Eau Claire facility. CURT expects to use all the space it will have in Mexico for the electrical business over time and has no plans to move other manufacturing to Mexico. CURT is currently aggressively hiring, and the affected 30 people will all be offered other positions at this facility. There will be no negative impact to the level of employment in Eau Claire, WI. The company recognizes the significance of this change. As such, a great deal of care and effort has gone into solidifying a plan, ensuring a seamless transition for continued on-time product delivery. CURT says it has built many months of projected demand in advance and expect no disruption in service during the transition. Electrical production in Eau Claire and the Philippines is scheduled to be completely relocated by December 1, 2018. To learn more, please visit www.curtmfg.com. NATDA Magazine www.natda.org
