L.A. Husbands & Wives Review Book Review by Shannan Harper The Wilson Brothers, Mason, Claude, and Tarino are back with their wives Mercedes, Venus and Sequoia, and of course, they brought the drama. Mason is run- ning for his second term as mayor and still dealing with trust issues from Mercedes’ “almost affair”. Heal- th issues, as well as secrets, will truly put their marriage to the test. Claude and Venus are still separated, but when tragedy strikes, readers are able to witness whe- ther Claude has finally learned his lesson. A medical mistake happened when Sequoia gave birth caused a series of challenges, but secrets from Tarino’s past is what will possibly break or make them as a couple. All three families will have to learn a lesson, hopefully be- fore it’s too late. Although this is the third book in the series, the author does an amazing job giving you back story so that un- less you want to, you don’t really have to read the first books in the series. I spent the majority of this book talking back to the characters and calling them just about every name but child of God. And who doesn’t like a book filled with sex, power and drama, which this family has an overflow of. Although this is Maris- sa’s last book, as well as the end of the series (I’m still a little miffed about both of those points, but I unders- tand), She did a wonderful job making the characters so relatable and personable. And if you take nothing else from this book, take away the fact that tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone, and if you love people, be sure to tell them before it’s too late. 38 | NKLC Magazine
