“I don’t think you do. You better think long and hard about what
you decide to chase after. Some things aren’t worth catching. I’ve seen
many a people get consumed with chasing after things they thought
they needed, only to discover they had chased themselves away from
the people and things that mattered most.”
Phil knew Wes was trying to protect him like always, but he didn’t
need protection; he needed to be released. He needed to be set free
from the frustration and doubt he felt each time a co-worker regarded
his capabilities as being merely skin deep. Before he could prove those
people wrong, Phil was convinced he needed to clear the air of his own
foggy layer of doubt. “Okay, Daddy. I get it. What’s the second thing
you’ve learned?”
Wes went back to his paper. “You can’t give a person anything they’re
determined to buy for themselves.”
