The Sweet Soul Sisters Book Club was founded in October 2005 with four members living in the Maryland and District of Columbia area . Two of the founding members ; Royce Slade Morton and Jocelyn Lawson were introduced to each other through author Ann Clay . Today they remain as Co-Presidents / Co- Chairs of the book club . While some other members have come and gone , at this time we are five members strong . Jocelyn Lawson , Royce Slade Morton , Shana Plummer , Margaret ( Bunny ) Ervin and Sherrie Cook Saunders . Our members now reside in Maryland , the District of Columbia , and Florida . Our goal is to share with each other the different genres of our African American Authors .
We have traveled to various book events together and individually such as : The National Book Club Conference ( NBCC ), events hosted by A . C Arthur , The Chocolate Social by Ella Curry , Book Expo America , Beverly Jenkins Pajama Party , Romance Slam Jam , Reading Diva ’ s The Black Authors and Readers Rock Weekend , Cavalcade of Authors and several book signings annually .
Reading is good for the soul , and we love being a part of such a diverse group of women . The camaraderie with the members and the travel that allows us to interact with many authors and other book clubs is a rewarding experience .
