excerpt from The Little Girl Inside
The little girl in me was celebrating again. My
first sweetheart from elementary school appeared
out of nowhere. He was living in Seattle, so we
chatted for months before we eventually met face
to face.
I had to attend a conference in San Francisco and
we met in the hotel lobby. He brought back so many
good memories of my childhood and summers
spent in South Carolina. He brought a smile to my
face just like he’d always done when I was a child.
I found out that he’d recently divorced and had
a son and a daugh- ter. Before I knew it, we started
dating. We agreed to meet whenever time permitted,
and it wasn’t long before Cupid’s arrows knocked
both of us out cold.
