Naleighna Kai's Literary Cafe Magazine Father's Day Issue | Page 2

Father’s Day issue is the hardest one to pull off. That bothers me for a number of reasons. Most know my history, so I don’t have to go into it here, but for so many in my circle of writers to shy away is painful. Someone has to tell the story of our wonderful men, amazing fathers, and outstanding role models. I am thankful for each and every writer who penned an article for this issue. For some, it was easy. Others had to dig deep. Each story tells of an experience that will touch your heart. In this issue, I received a profound lesson. I wrote an article and then made the decision not to place it among all the amazing ones written by the featured authors here. Why? Because my truth in taking years to heal, did not match the uplifting vibration of all the other stories. To me, it was more important to have one issue that is totally dedicated to fathers-- Black fathers in their truest glory. Thank you for taking the time to absorb the experiences and relate to them in your own way. We strive that each issue has something that is thoughtful, inspirational, and gives a glimpse into the inner workings that drives the authors to write the books that they do. As always, I thank you for the support of the magazine and hope you will spread the word to fellow book lovers and book clubs near and far. Happy Father’s Day to one and all who fill that void in a child’s life. Naleighna Kai Editor-in-Chief J. L. Woodson Art Director 2 | NKLC Magazine
