Nacogdoches ISD Spotlight Spotlight Aug. 2014 | Page 2

WELCOME FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT Dear Members of the Nacogdoches ISD community: Welcome to the 2014-15 school year! This is going to be a great year here at Nacogdoches ISD as we focus on the theme, “I am Nacogdoches ISD”. All indications are that we will have more than 6,400 students on the exciting first day of school – more than sixty-four hundred students who will be saying, “I am Nacogdoches ISD.” We also have more than 900 committed educators and support staff members who are Nacogdoches ISD! There is no doubt that we face some great challenges, but there are more things that we can be proud of in our outstanding schools. The best teachers, the best students, the best leaders, the best support staff and community leaders make up each of our campuses. As you contemplate the start of this school year, think of the many positive things of which you can be part of this year. There is no other community that has the impact on the future that ours does. We shape this community together through our shared efforts. I am very excited about this year. I know that it is going to be the best year in the history of this school district because of our efforts as a team — students, staff, parents and our community. We will work together to ensure that Nacogdoches ISD is recognized across the nation as a place where everyone has high expectations, everyone teaches and learns, and everyone shows and receives respect. Welcome back! Sincerely, Dr. Fred Hayes Superintendent I hope each of our students had a restful and funfilled summer. It is extremely important to take time away to clear your mind, to return refreshed and energized to face the great opportunity before us.
