JOSEPH MCGREGOR F EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENTS Most practices hiring associates or retaining independent contractors are well-advised to do so under an employment agreement. Such agreements help establish expectations, and also institute restrictive covenants (such as non-compete, non-solicitation, and non-disclosure agreements). Other employment matters involve employee hiring and firing staff, and also the appropriate implementation of employee handbooks. McGregor & Oblad, PLLC 3010 LBJ Freeway, Suite 200, Dallas, TX 75234 (214) 720-9555 www.mcgregorfirm.com www.texasdentallawyer.com McGregor operates very differently than traditional law firms. First, they always charge on a flat fee basis, and never charge for clients to speak with an attorney. Clients always know the total cost of services before they decide to retain McGregor. McGregor pricing is designed to deliver perfect value to clients: nowhere will clients find more dental-related experience at as low a price. Finally, and arguably most importantly, McGregor understands the value of goodwill in dental transactions, and seeks each client’s interest with professionalism, fairness, and respect to all parties involved. Joseph McGregor exclusively represents dentists. This laser focus on the industry has enabled him to gain keen insights into a multitude of dental transitions, business models, and scenarios. Joseph’s legal education emphasized corporate law, and his professional background is in larger business transactions involving sophisticated commercial acquisitions and real estate arrangements. This training allows him to appreciate the complexities in dental transactions at a level typically reserved for attorneys with exorbitant billing rates. Depth of experience and service-orientation makes Joseph McGregor a frequent source of help for both local dentists and many of the service professionals that assist them. He is truly interested in seeking the best outcome for the dental community in each transaction he touches. Joseph McGregor handles most of McGregor’s dental startups, acquisitions, partnership matters, employment contracts, and other business-related transactions. He holds a B.S. in Finance, and graduated from the law school at Brigham Young University. Joseph is a native of Salado, Texas, has a wife and four kids, and has an unhealthy passion for college football. JASON HIRST Jason Hirst is McGregor & Oblad’s newest addition. Jason works within the Dental Law Group with a focus on estate planning, asset protection, and tax strategy. Jason’s experience in working with the purchase and sale of dental practices gives him a unique understanding of the assets, situations, and the risks that dentists are often exposed to – and he uses that experience to create integrated, custom-fit estate and asset protection plans for each dentist, helping dentists to earn and keep their hard-earned money. Jason takes a holistic approach to estate planning, and believes that educating a client is critical to his effectiveness. A good estate plan provides a benefit to the dentist not only in death, but provides asset protection, tax minimization, and efficient low-cost management during life as well. It can also provide safeguards in the event of disability, divorce, bankruptcy, or changing family circumstances, in addition to helping the client be organized and prepared for any emergency. Jason creates estate plans that are simple and avoid unnecessary costs. Most clients do not need complicated trusts, large life insurance plans, expensive trustees, dozens of business entities, or charitable organizations created in their name. While those things have their place, most estate plans can be simple and have almost no maintenance or administration costs. No estate plan should create an undue financial burden for the client, especially since many dentists begin their profession with a very low net worth. Most estate plans help the dentist not to maintain a large estate – but to build one. Jason has a B.S. in Finance with an emphasis in personal financial planning. He attended law school at Brigham Young University, where he focused his studies on tax and estate planning. He is married and is the proud father of three children. www.northtexasdentistry.com |
