Sunset at New Beach
Nature gave back to Montserrat after the island’s volcano wrecked havoc on its landscape and
the lives of its citizens. Over time, after heavy rains, dirt from the volcano washed downhill,
creating new “beaches” at various places around the island. There are 5 new deltas caused by
volcanic run-offs, and although these areas all had beaches before, the volcanic ash and dirt
ran into the sea, creating larger expanses of beach fronts.
