Festival
December 21 - January 1
This is without a doubt the most anticipated event on the island and it is held at the time of year that
quite naturally lends itself to a high level of festivity. Calypso, soca, pageants and parades are intertwined
with caroling, Christmas preparations, Christmas celebrations and the welcoming in of the New Year. It’s
Christmas and also carnival on the Emerald Isle. Many look forward to this season and although they may
have migrated to other countries, they eagerly return home at Christmas for a double dose of merriment
and family togetherness. The old year ends on a jubilant note and the new one begins in exhilarating
fashion.
