Fort Duvernette, St. Vincent and The Grenadines

A tall, rocky pinnacle is home to the ruins of the elevated cannon battery of Fort
Duvernette, located south of mainland St. Vincent,. It is a 195 foot high volcanic plug
comprised of hard columnar basalt known locally as ‘Rock Fort’.
On the fort there are two batteries with cannons, which were constructed during the
colonial era of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the defence of the then important town
of Calliaqua. The site is also rich with flora and fauna.
Fort Duvernette is accessible only by boat.
