The Tobago Cays, St. Vincent
Some have described the Tobago Cays as the ultimate definition of paradise. It consists of five small uninhabited islands located in the southern Grenadines. Home of the Tobago Cays Marine Park, where you’ll find some of the best underwater sites teeming with bright coral reefs and exotic marine life, this area has been designated a wildlife reserve to preserve its pristine, natural setting. The beautiful, crystal clear water of the Tobago Cays is perfect for snorkelling and swiming. In this magical setting, you will find an abundance of turtles and a wide variety of colourful underwater inhabitants. While snorkelling, look out for green and hawksbill turtles at the protected Baradal Turtle Sanctuary. On a scuba diving trip, you’ll find the Purunia Wreck, a 140 foot WWI British gunship, lying off Mayreau’s west coast, and spectacular coral reefs at Horse Shoe Reef and Mayreau Gardens. While on your boat, you may spot some of the many birds at the Catholic Rock Bird Sanctuary. If you prefer a bit of privacy and the thrill of being on a secluded beach, head to Petit Tabac which is somewhat famous as a scene in “Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl” was filmed rignt here. For a bit of hiking, Petit Bateau, James Bay and Petit Rameau is just what you’ll need. THE TOBAGO CAYS Petit Ramea Petit Bateau Baradal Petit Tabac Jamesby Picturesque Photo Credit: Lisa Bat
