St Martin / St Maarten Day
Both the Dutch and the French
sides of the island come together to
celebrate the island’s discovery by
Christopher Columbus on this day
in 1493. Celebrations include official
ceremonies, including cultural events,
music and food.
It is also the French Quarter Village
Celebration Day on St. Martin.
NOVEMBER 15
Beaujolais Nouveau
The is an annual wine tasting event
held in bars and restaurants on the
island to celebrate the release of the
new vintage. Usually held on the thrid
Thursday in France, it is held on the
third Wednesday in St. Martin because
of the time difference between Europe
and St. Martin.
DECEMBER
Christmas House
Located in Cripple Gate, this house
represents the ultimate celebration of
Christmas and was voted best tourist
attraction for the month of December. It is
full of Christmas decorations, music, cakes,
punch and loads of Christmas spirit!
DECEMBER 15
Running Night
This is a relay held at night in Marigot.
Five runners will form a team with each
one running 1.9km. It is done in the spirit
of Christmas with gifts being distributed to
participants.
