Statia DAY
This is a national holiday which takes place annually. The day is marked with uniformed parades and sober reflections on Statia’s role in America’s history. It is also a day to celebrate the culture and heritage of Statia. During the week before this auspicious day, a public stage is lit up every evening from 6:00 pm. Booths are lined up along the street, local dishes such as conch and dumpling are sold and Statians are entertained by local and international performances - artistes come from around the Caribbean to delight the estatic crowd with their electrifying performance s. Children are entertained with sports and games and Statians use this opportunity to celebrate collectively, in the spirit of island-togetherness. This is usually a highly-anticipated, fun-filled day for local and visitors. NOVEMBER 16th
