Although she was never able to get even a call
back in Dominica, when she began her secondary
education on Anguilla she continued on with
drive and determination. She wsa chosen to
represent Anguilla three times at Leeward Islands
Debating Competition, excelled at other speaking
engagements and was Vice President of the Student
Body Government. She graduated with awards in
Economics, History and Principles of Business, and
immediately secured an internship position at an
Incubator Hub.
At age 16, Nisha began exercising her
entrepreneurship and philanthropist spirit by
founding a non-profit Organisation named, ‘Mooted
Globates’. One of the aims was to organize the
Windward Islands Debating Competition (WIDC).
She longed to relocate to Dominica to attend
college and launch this initiative. However for
personal reasons, and with the destruction caused
by Hurricane Erika in Dominica in 2015 , she was
unable to do so. She then secured a job with
Malliouhana, an Auberge Resort, as a PBX Agent/
Telephone Operator and Boutique Sales Clerk.
Nisha also dappled temporarily in modelling, but
decided that building herself as a reporter was more
important. Ultimately, Nisha yearns to establish
herself as a renowned media personality and
Philanthropist with a focus on impoverished women
and children.
Now at age nineteen, Nisha has collaborated with
the Eastern Caribbean Debating Foundation who
were ahead of her in their organisation of the WIDC,
and the owner being impressed with her work,
offered her the position of Executive Director.
She also worked as a Radio Announcer for the
Government of Anguilla, and now wishes to pursue
her first degree in Journalism and International
Relations.
Her life motto is:
I am of you, you are of me; we are together, we are one.
How Nisha secured a job with
the Government of Anguilla as a
Radio Presenter at the age of 18
Due to financial constraints, Nisha was unable to follow
through with her goal of relocating to attend college
before age 18. She then re-strategized and begun
focusing her efforts on hands-on training. Through
integration within the community, she was offered a
position of a local talk show host. Although it did not
come to fruition, Nisha spent months producing that
show which granted her some first-hand experience of
Talk Show production and led to her being introduced
to a manager at Radio Anguilla who became her
mentor for a time.
She began volunteering at the station two years in a
row by providing commentary coverage of carnival
events, as well as a being a judge for the Miss Anguilla
Queen Contestant. Later she underwent news reading
training.
When her relocation into Europe failed last year, upon
her return she became aware of a vacancy at Radio
Anguilla. Nisha applied and was successfully Radio
Anguilla’s new Presenter.
