ST. NICHOLAS ABBEY Located in the island’s north west parish of St. Peter, this beautiful 17th century plantation is one of the places you must visit when in Barbados. Sitting on what was formerly a slave plantation, history now lives within the walls of the great house, a Jacobean mansion built in 1660. Artefacts from the plantation’s history and slave records will provide an insight into life on the plantation many, many years ago while the architecture and antique furnishings will fascinate. Tour the plantation, its sugar cane fields, flower and herb garden. Stroll through the avenue and enjoy the breath taking view of the island’s east coast and, when it’s time to leave, be sure to take a bottle of St. Nicholas Abbey Rum with you.
