Who is Vincent Mc Doom?

It is very difficult to encapsulate who I am as I am so many
different things to different people. Everyone has an opinion or
vision of who they think I am. If you were to ask me who I think
I am, I would say I still remain a timid and humble island boy at
heart, who grew up playing amongst the natural backdrop of my
island St. Lucia but also always envisioned a life of something
more than just my small island. Aspirations that always included
helping others, establishing a legacy for fashion for my country
and also providing pathways for others to explore their creative
and artistic sides. People think because of my flamboyant and
larger than life character that it is always about me. That is so far
from the truth as I strive to help others grow as others helped
and supported me. My philosophy is always to pass it on and
help others.

Memories of growing up in St. Lucia

I had a very humble upbringing and for as long as I can remember
I have always wanted to work in fashion. I have been very blessed
that I have been able to channel my talent and passion into that
area. My grandmother was a seamstress so from an early age
I was exposed to the art of clothing construction, which of
course I absorbed vicariously as a curious child. However it
was never a case of being brought in to help her, I was way too
busy being a little boy doing what little boys do. Following my
graduating from high school, I was fortunate to secure myself a
job as an accountant at a bookshop which sold the latest fashion
magazines. That is where my motivation grew to aspire to leave
the island and one day become part of what I saw in those
magazines.
