What started as a cool morning of eating the Jamaican breakfast of fruit and Ackee and Johnnycakes with Blue Mountain Coffee became a strenuous hike into the dense mountains behind Jacks Hill above Kingston. My husband and I signed up for a coffee hike to get deep into the Jamaican mountains and see just how the coffee we love is grown and processed by the locals. Our guide Anthony met us at breakfast and warned us to wear good shoes and bring, “plenty water.” We set out at 8:am on what we thought would be a nice little hike to a coffee plantation.
