Ponce’s Historic City Center PlaceS of Interest Surfing and Whale Watching at Rincon Ponce’s historic past can be explored through its many museums and its city center with the beautiful 17th century architecture which includes open plazas, ideal for relaxing and people-watching. Buildings worthy of particular note around the city center are the old Fire Station, the City Hall and although built much more recently, the Catedral Nuestra Señora de la Guadalupe. Rincon became a surfing Mecca after the 1968 World Surfing Championships and is today known as either Surfing Town or Little Malibu. Although the town became popular due to surfing which is still a popular activity there, today it is perhaps getting better known as the starting point for whale watching excursions. © Puerto Rico Tourism Company
