Les Trois-Ilets places of interest Across the bay from Fort-de-Prince is Les Trois-Ilets which is popular with tourists. Here, not only are there hotels and restaurants, but there are also historic attractions, shops, boutiques and local craft stalls. Visitors can learn the history of sugar in an old sugar plantation or relax on the nearby creamy sands of Anse Mitan, one of the island’s best beaches. Balata Botanical Garden Near Fort-de-France is the Balata Botanical Garden which displays over 3,000 species of tropical flowers and plants. The gardens cascade down a hillside with many benches hidden among the foliage. There are also rope ladders suspended in the trees to allow for better views of the many ponds splattered with lotus blossoms and water lilies. As you look at the different plants, hummingbirds buzz past while going about their own routines. Photo Credit: jipiBrussels Photo Credit: Daniel R
