The Citadelle
National
History Park
The Citadelle, Sans-Souci Palace and Raimers
are a designated World Heritage Site. Named
the National History Park, these sites combined
are considered to be the largest fort in the
Western Hemisphere. Site Des Ramiers itself
is of particular importance to Haitians as it
represents a symbol of liberty being the first
major building which was constructed after the
black slaves had gained their freedom.
