Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin
Natural Reserve
Between Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre is what is known as the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin
Natural Reserve which, along with the Guadeloupe National Park makes up the UNESCO-
listed Guadeloupe Archipelago Biosphere Reserve. Here visitors can take a boat ride among
the variety of coral reefs and mangroves to see the different forms of marine life such as
turtles, giant sponges, sea urchins and of course a diverse range of fish. On the boat tour,
birdwatchers will also have the opportunity to spot different bird species like herons,
kingfishers and pelicans.
