Heritage Collection Museum places of interest Anguilla’s Dive Sites Anguilla boasts a large variety of coral due to both its dual reef system and its artificial reef built from intentionally sunken ships. This of course presents many interesting dive experiences in the seven different Marine Parks which surround the island. Although most divers may be able to see stingrays, garden ells, turtles, sharks and barracuda, of particular interest to certified divers are the various wrecks that lie beneath and their associated fascinating stories. Check out Scuba Shack Anguilla. They will make your Anguillian dive experience quite memorable. Sadly damaged after last year’s hurricane, this museum is now closed until they rebuild, however, it being closed does not mean that you will not be able to benefit from a discussion with the island’s historian and museum curator, Mr. Colville Petty. He is Anguilla’s published historian and will, no doubt, take you on a historical journey although his collection of old postage stamps, important historical documents and some nice early 20th century photographs may not be readily available to view. The small museum was located across from East End Pond, housed in what was his childhood home. Photo Credit: Rachel C. Photo Credit: Nicholet55
