Folkstone Marine Park Holetown is where the first colonists arrived on the island in 1627 and just off its coast is where the Stavronikita, a 109meter freight ship was deliberately sunk in order to form an artificial reef. Today coral grows on the burnt out ship’s masts and fish swim through its hull. Only experienced divers should venture the 36 meters down to the wreck but nearby there is also an underwater trail for snorkelers to follow in the park’s Recreational Zone.
