PLACES OF INTEREST MOUNT ST. BENEDICT MONASTERY Famous for its yogurt, the Mount St. Benedict Monastery’s red roof is probably the most striking landmark east of Port of Spain, the island’s capital. The monastery is the oldest and largest in the Caribbean with its Benedictine monks following a principle of self- sufficiency and hospitality to strangers. Included in the grounds are a rehabilitation center and a guest house and some excellent birding and hiking opportunities await you in the surrounding forests. Photo Credit: Jusdalep
