The Tijon Parfumerie
The Tijon parfumerie is probably the only
place in the world where you can create
your own perfume. After paying for a short
course, visitors are then offered a choice
from 300 different oils from which to make
their own unique fragrance. For the less
adventurous there are selections of “The
Fragrances of the French Caribbean” to
choose from but either way you will leave
having had a rare experience.

Border Obelisk
The border obelisk is perhaps the only
indication that you are crossing between
the French and Dutch parts of the island as
the free movement of goods and people
between the two parts of the island was
agreed to in a 1648 treaty, after the Spanish
abandoned the island. The obelisk was
erected in 1948 in celebration of the 300
years that the two sides have collaborated in
accordance with the treaty.

Grand Case
Known as the gourmet capital of the island,
the village of Grand Case has maintained its
authentic housing from a past era. Any time
of the year visitors will rub shoulders with
fishermen as they stroll down the village’s
main street, Boulevard de Grand Case.
The best time to visit is during the “Mardis
de Grand Case” when you can experience
cuisine, local crafts and Caribbean jazz music
at their best.
