St. Lucia, like most of the other Caribbean islands, offer tourists an opportunity to experience their culture first-hand during their annual carnival celebrations. July 17th & 18th, 2017. During that time, the island will be bathed in a sea of colors, glitzy costumed masqueraders and spectators, all enjoying this much-anticipated time of year. Local musicians and international artistes add to the excitement generated at carnival. Ethnic rhythms fill the streets, food stalls, people hanging out, attending events, “liming”, all in a highly festive mood - carnival is like no other! Locals and tourists alike dance in unison under the hot Caribbean sun. But if dancing in public isn’t your thing, there are many other events you can enjoy: Calypso Tents - where the local calypsonians sing their well- prepared songs for the year’s Carnival Calypso Competition. Calypso Monarch Competition - the calypsonians’ songs are being
