Luquillo Beach
Just a short drive from the capital San
Juan, the golden sands of Luquillo Beach
offering respite from the bustling city.
Here the sands stretch for nearly a mile
and shade is readily available under the
coconut palms. With showers, restrooms,
lockers and changing rooms available as
well as food vendors close by, you have
all you need for a tranquil break from the
more vigorous tourist activities.

Arecibo Radio Telescope
(Observatorio de Arecibo)
Recognized by many from the movie
“Contact” starring Jodie Foster, the Arecibo
Radio Telescope which is set a a 20 acre
sinkhole has, and still does play a major role
in astrology. In the past it has been used
to study the Moon, pulsars and quasars
and is currently involved in the Search for
Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) program.
The drive down the winding road to the site
will be well worth it.

Rio Camuy Caves (Parque de
las Cavernas del Río Camuy)
Thought to be the third largest cave
system in the world covering 268 acres,
the Rio Camuy Caves system can be visited
by taking a trolley bus to the entrance
of a 200ft cave (sinkhole). A tour of the
caves is an excellent chance to experience
the natural wonders of nature with
rivers rushing along the cave’s floor and
stalactites and stalagmites adorning the
floor and high ceiling.
