Charlestown
Charlestown is the capital
of Nevis and is one of the
best preserved towns in
the Caribbean. To the south
of the town is Fort Charles
looking over both the town
and Gallows Point where, as
Nevis had the only court in
the Caribbean which could
try and hang pirates, the
pirates were hung. To the
north is the long sweeping
sands of Pinney’s Beach. The
town is small and compact
and with buildings dating
back to the 18th century.
