Schoelcher Library

The unique and impressive building that houses this library was first built in Paris in 1889 but then transported to and rebuilt in its current location in Fort-de-France . Some visitors laughingly admit hey go to the library to see the building rather than the books . The library was named after Victor Schoelcher , a slavery abolitionist .

Les Salines

About 1.5 miles from the town of Ste-Anne is a breathtaking beach stretching for miles with glistening sand and shady palm trees . The beach is called Les Salines and is very popular especially with families as the calm , clear waters are ideal for young children to play in . There are vendors selling local treats and apparently the coco ice-cream which is sold on the beach is definitely worth trying .
