El Yaque
The strong winds and shallow waters of El
Yaque Beach, located 5 minutes from the
airport, make this a popular destination for
families and those who like windsurfing, or
kiting. From the dock, kids can jump into the
shallow waters or catch a banana boat whilst
windsurfers enjoy the all year round strong
winds that have made this spot one of the
world’s favourites for the sport, attracting
worldwide visitors.

Coche Island (Isla de Coche)
With a length of 11kms and a width of 6kms,
located just to the south of Margarita Island,
Coche Island today relies on fishing and its
salt mines for its survival. It has an interesting
history. It was from here that 15,000 men left
to stop the insurrection in Venezuela in 1815
and the wreck of San Pedro de Alcantara lies
testament to that just beneath the nearby
waters. On the island, all development has
been undertaken with respect to nature
and many tourists today explore the island’s
beaches and cliffs by way of a bicycle tour.

Juan Griego Bay
Home to one of the island’s most important
towns, Juan Griego as well as two excellent
beaches La Galera and Caribe Beach, this
Bay has much to offer tourists. Perhaps the
most popular experience for tourists is to
sit on a cannon at the Fortin de La Galera
(Fort) and watch the sunset although the
fort does also offer other great views of the
Bay all day long.
