Giddy House
Built in the 1800’s, this structure was once
a royal artillery house for weapons and
gunpowder, but in 1907, an earthquake
relegated it to its present state. It’s name
“giddy house” was earned because when
people who entered the lopsided structure
attempted to stand upright, a head-spinning
feeling resulted - they felt giddy, hence its
name.
During the earthquake, other structures in
the area were sunk and badly damaged but
Giddy House remained, tilted at a 45 degree
angle. This crooked, partly shrunken, unique
house is now a huge tourist attraction.
