Hundred Steps Beach
THINGS of interest
Las Cuevas Beach
Las Cuevas Beach is located on the north coast. Its wide stretch of sand makes it an appealing
venue and although the very popular Maracas Bay is just 15 minutes away, the semi-seclusion on
this crescent-shape beach draws many who are seeking a little less activity and crowds while they
take a respite from their day’s activities. The caves from which the beach got its name can offer
shade to visitors on the extra hot days and at the western end of the beach, the waves are often
suitable for surfing.
Also on the island’s north coast is the Hundred Steps Beach. For visitors who are really seeking
solitude and beauty, this beach, the neighbour of both Las Cuevas and Maracas Bay will give you
just that. You will have to walk a short distance down the hundred steps and a narrow track to get
to the beach. The path may be a bit treacherous especially if it rained, so care should be taken, but
the memory of any difficulty you may have encountered on your journey here will all dissipate
when you arrive, as there is nothing more beautiful than this, anywhere!
